recent work: Training environment
I recently completed work for a local information technology training company. They were tired of using the same old stock photography for their catalogs so we put together a small shoot utilizing real life instructors and several employees acting as students. By using real people you achieve a real people look. The client ended up with a nice catalog of images and was very satisfied. Here a a couple of my favorites.
The shoot took a half-day inside their local training room. Myself and their marketing team pretty much rambo'd through. It was great working with their team and employees. I tried to make it a fun time for all. The hardest part is getting the lights down for each different shoot. Some were better than others. It is very important to work your shot list and develop a lighting plan ahead of time if possible.

I spent a week relaxing in the mountains of NC out near Fontana Lake. We live in a great state.
Nothing fancy. Just wanted to share. New work to come and hopefully some images taken with my Iphone 4.
Portrait of Traci
I had fun teaching my friend Meri some off-camera lighting and my philosophy for producing an image. Meri did most of the shooting but I was able to snatch a couple good ones during demonstrations.
Traci had modeled before and she has a great look. This shot was with one SB-800 fired through a shoot through umbrella. Nikon D300 with 85 1.4 lens @ 1/200 f4. I love this lens!
This photo was my demonstration of fake sun. It was darn near high-noon when we were shooting. I put a 1/2 CTO gel on a second SB-800 and had it held to the rear and camera right. I think it was full power. The other light source was a 1/2 powered SB-800 shot through a white shoot through umbrella.

Haymarket Square, Boston
Perhaps one of the oldest farmer's markets in the United States, Haymarket Square in Downtown Boston was buzzing with activity when I visited last week. I was first struck by how cheap the prices were. A pint of blue berries for $1? Are you kidding me?
After the market, we headed to the North End for espresso and pastries. A great time.

birds of spring
I'll be the first to admit that I am not a nature photographer. I simply enjoying capturing my world around my as I see it or want to remember it. Within the last two weeks I have seen nature explode after the winter sleep.
My daughter and I discovered this little guy in our garden. He was sitting perfectly still in the hopes we didn't see him.
I've camped in the little campground of Todd Lake, VA for four of the last five years. I absolutely love the location. I've always been greeted by a small nest of sparrows that build their nest right on the welcome kiosk of the campground. This year I was prepared with my macro 105 lens.
Some times nature is so close and within reach that even a hack can capture nature photos.
