Recent faces in front of my lens
Business has been picking up a bit and blogging hasn't. Sometimes life just keeps you busy and before you know it time has moved on down the road. Here are a couple outtakes from a recent shoot involving a church in downtown Raleigh. It was a challenging shoot with hundreds of people around but only a few that could be photographed. The following two people asked me to photograph them.

This woman pleaded with me to take her portrait while I was working. She insisted she needed it for her family who hadn't seen her in years. I took a couple photos and handed her my card but she continued to plead with me to send it for her. She didn't have a lot of possessions in the world so I agreed and gave her a pen to write the address down. I hope it ended up in the right spot.

This young man was very nice. He approached me asking if I needed more subjects. I had pretty much wrapped up the shoot, but I obliged him anyway. A great smile indeed.

The last photo is my nephew Ben. He's a grown man now with the world in front of him. Take it Ben. Take the world in front of you and don't waste any chances for self improvement and adventure.
Lastly, I ordered a new camera today. It should be here in mid-July! You'll have to wait to find out.
New look for the blog

I have migrated my photography blog over to WordPress from Blogger. It was long over due. It's still a work in progress but so far I'm very pleased with WordPress. If you have problems viewing this blog, please let me know.
family fun photography
I love a good jump shot and along with Natalie's great smile it makes for a fun photo indeed.
Hannah jumping into the Christmas spirit!
Who needs boring holiday cards anyway?
Halloween Portraits 2009

It has become a tradition to photograph the kids and their costumes before they head out on the candy crawl. The last couple of years I've put up my portable background and busted out a smoke machine. The kids love it and the neighborhood has started to catch on too. It was a lot of fun for me too.

The rest of the photos can be seen in a web gallery I whooped up.
Halloween Portraits 2009 Enjoy!
My photo assistant
When I was setting up my lights and background for a portrait shoot yesterday, my daughter asked if she could help. And help she did. She helped set up the lights, scrambled back to my office for additional pocket wizards and ultimately stood in as my model while I adjusted the light levels. She really was an assistant! Thanks girl! It was fun working with her even if only for a few minutes. She probably didn't think much of it but it meant the world to me.
When two people come together

When two people come together and fall in love, sometimes something very magical will happen. In this case, that something magical is baby Austin. He is indeed magical as he has caught more than a few hearts in the few days he has been around here.
For a few more shots of this new member to our family, I have put together a slide show from our quick 'photo session' last week. Austin Oliver
I really like black and whites for baby photos.
Congratulations Angel and Derek!
Blue Ridge Mountain series

Over the next few blog posts, I will be sharing a series of shots I took last week while exploring the Blue Ridge Mountains in the Nelson county region of western Virgina. Nothing serious. In fact, it's the lack of seriousness and a shot list that make these images special to me. Sharing, exploring and having a camera with me to create images is one of the many reasons why I love photography so much.
